Outlook after the NSC in Bern

The National Selection Conference in Bern has come to its end. Interesting debates took place, friendships have been formed, and it is safe to say that every participant profited from the session in one way or another. We would like to thank everybody who made this event come into reality: The Organisers’ Team, the Officials’ Team, sponsors, patrons, teachers, and of course the delegates.

If you wish to stay involved after the session, we are happy to present you the next opportunities to do so. Having participated at one of our sessions as delegate gives you the priviledge of being a member of EYP Switzerland in the respective year. This means that it is free for you to attend our further events in this year (e.g. trainings or social gatherings).

Also, we have some open calls which allow you to continue your involvement. Namely, there is an open Call for delegates. You can apply for the AYSOR International Forum in Armenia and the Francophone Regional Session of EYP Ukraine here. The deadlines are on the 27th September and the 1st October respectively.

Bern 2015 is officially open

Yesterday, the Opening Ceremony of Bern2015, the 19th National Selection Conference of EYP Switzerland, took place. EYP Switzerland was honoured to welcome remarkable guest speakers: Adolf Muschg, contemporary Swiss writer, shared his thaughts about the past and the present of Europe with the participants. Furthermore, we were warmly adressed by Reto Nause, city councillor of Bern, and André Lorenzetti welcomed us on behalf of the Gymnasium Kirchenfeld.

The 180 participants will now debate current topics around the theme “Europe in a globalizing world” during the next days. All resolutions will be debated on at the General Assembly on Saturday and Sunday. This part of the session is public. This means that friends and relatives of EYPers, as well as everybody who is interested in our organisation, is warmly invited to join us. Please find all necessary information here. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Results of the EGM

On Sunday, 19th of April, our alumni met in Aarau for an Extraordinary General Meeting and for an Easter Brunch. As the past Board Member on Finances and Membership, Mohamed Atiek, is leaving us, we are happy to announce that Riccardo Passarella has been elected to take over this mandate. We sincerely thank Mohamed for his hard work and dedication to EYP Switzerland in its development. We would also like to seize this opportunity to welcome Riccardo to the Board of EYP Switzerland and we wish him all the best with his new mandate.

Following the EGM, our Easter Brunch took place. We were delighted to witness many happy faces and welcoming both new and more experienced members. Furthermore, we were able to distribute the first official hoodies of EYP Switzerland.

We are looking forward to once again seeing our members at our next upcoming events, such as the Summer Event and finally, the National Selection Conference which will take place in Bern this September.

Alumni Weekend in Sörenberg

Alumni WeekendThis weekend, our Alumni Weekend takes place in the lovely mountain village of Sörenberg LU. While the delegates of the National Selection Conference Fribourg 2014 learned about EYP Journalism, attending sessions abroad and how European institutions work, our more experienced members were given an insight into chairing and layouting and could give their input to the vision on our organisation. We thank everybody for their contribution and look forward to seeing you again at one of our upcoming events.
