The European Youth Parliament (EYP) is a unique youth organisation that gathers young people who share a passion for political debate, intercultural encounters and the exchange of ideas among young people in Europe. Participants from more that 30 European countries take part in more than 120 EYP events each year. The aims of the EYP are to:
- Raise awareness of European issues, encourage active European citizenship and motivate students to get involved in European politics
- Promote international understanding, intercultural dialogue and diversity of ideas and practices
- Contribute to the personal skills development of the European youth
- Provide a forum in which young people in Europe can express their own opinions without reverting to role play
In Switzerland, EYP is represented for 15 years now with its own National Committee. EYP Switzerland organises a National Selection Conference every year, where the participating Delegations can qualify for other EYP sessions taking place all over Europe. In 2012, Regional Sessions will take place for the first time, and in 2013, EYP Switzerland will have the honour of hosting an International Session in Zurich, where over 250 participants from all over Europe will take part. On a national level, we also organise trainings (such as a communication training conducted by a professional trainer or an academic training on European politics) for our members, as well as socialising events.
You can find out more about the EYP and its events on the websites of EYP Switzerland and EYP International.
