Lucerne 2026: 30th National Selection Conference of EYP Switzerland
Staying Updated: Empowering Change through Knowledge
Taking place in Lucerne from the 28th of August to the 1st of September 2026, the NSC Lucerne 2026 addresses a critical challenge of our time: trying to stay informed and engaged, while political leaders increasingly disregard the factual correctness of their statements and we access the world through the lens of artificial intelligence. How can we decide if we do not know what is true or just an opinion?
It becomes critical to not just have access to information, but to learn how to navigate this flood of information critically, intentionally, and independently. We run foul of losing the ability to question, reflect, feel, and alas, outsourcing our thinking, judgment and values. The NSC Lucerne 2026 is not about rejecting information; it is about reclaiming the human capacity to make sense of it, by equipping its participants with tools to navigate increasingly complex challenges with the four fundamental pillars: knowledge, growth, compassion, and safety.
Scientia - Informed Minds, Empowered Voices
The participants are joined by representatives from science and research in a range of knowledge-sharing events, encouraging dialogue and mutual learning across teams, departments, and age groups: To foster a culture where insights are not only exchanged but elevated.
Educatio - Growing with Purpose
Worthwhile experiences stem from connection with others, as connections amplify mutual support and communication, and thus aid individual growth. Participants can bond with each other both within and across teams over different activities and events.
Concordia - Flourish, Together
Progress always involves setbacks, and success is rarely achieved without first making mistakes. We are fostering an environment where making mistakes is not only accepted, but encouraged as a natural part of the learning process.
Fidentia - Safe Spaces for Bold Ideas
One of the arguably most important pillars of the session is safety, as it allows and supports the exchange and growth of participants. We aim to ensuring safety and welfare throughout the whole event.
At the heart of Switzerland and, by extension, Europe, Lucerne serves as a central location for bringing together informed minds from across Europe. Nestled between Lake Lucerne and the Alps, the city is excellently connected through major rail networks. Its preserved medieval old town is best known for the Chapel Bridge, a wooden bridge dating back to the 1300s. This combination of history, culture, and accessibility makes Lucerne the ideal setting to get together participants around the NSC Lucerne 2026’s four pillars: Scientia, Educatio, Concordia, and Fidentia.
