Frequently asked questions for Teachers

Your question is not answered? Don‘t hesitate to contact our National Coordinator, Raya Giger, anytime.

Who can be a delegate?

Any student from swiss or liechtenstein highschools or vocational schools aged between 15-19 can be delegates.

We recommend opening the programme for specific school years, so that every year new students have the opportunity to participate. The final year of school is not suitable, as students are busy with final exams.

Do I need to accompany my students to the sessions?

Accompanying your students to sessions is voluntary. However, we would be very happy to welcome you at our events. We currently offer a teachers Programme at the National Selection Conference and we generally highly recommend visiting General Assembly where you can see your students in action.

Visiting our events also offers a great platform for personal exchange (and feedback), both with the Board of EYP and other EYP Teachers.

How much work is being an EYP-Teacher?

As EYP-Teacher you have 2 main responsiblities:

  1. Form (one or more) delegation(s) for sessions: This includes advertising EYP to the students of the school and gathering their information for the sign-up form. For the National Session, the additional coordination for the application (creative and academic part) is required.
  2. Contact point of/for delegation: You will be receiving the same information the students are receiving. Your help is mostly required to follow up on the students to do their tasks and be there in case of questions.

Any additional tasks (such as attending sessions), is regulated individually based on each school.

In case you need any information/material (i.e. Flyers for advertisement), please reach out to our National Coordinator, Raya Giger.

How does the Selection work?

At the National Selection Conference, delegations can be selected to events abroad. The selection is performed by the Jury, a group of more experienced members of the organisation, who assess the students during the event based on criteria such teamwork, communication and academic preparation.

After the Event, teachers will receive a questionnaire, in which they can indicate which Sessions work for their delegation (i.e. due to school holidays, personal commitments etc.)

Regardless of the selection results, the students have the opportunity to request feedback from the Jury, in order to further develop their skills.

How is the safety + wellbeing of students ensured?

Safety and Welfare during EYP sessions is of furthermost importance to us and the entire Network. Extensive safety policies have been put in place that our participants have a pleasant experience during their time with us.

We collect participants emergency contacts before the event. They (as well as the indicated teacher) will be contacted immediately in case an emergency situation arises.

Our National Safe Person is the main contact point as well as the overseeing party for all matters concerning safety and welfare during EYP Sessions. For any questions, please don't hesitate to contact them.
